Part Three: 10 minutes
Part Four: 30 minutes
PART 1 Write short answers (1-5 words) to each message. Fill in the form (3 minutes)
Fill in the form
What’s your level of German? I have a basic level.
Why do you consider German important? German is a top language. What’s the purpose of your enrolment? I need to improve my German. Have you ever been to Germany? I've been there three times. Do you consider German an easy or a hard language? I think it's difficult. |
PART 2 You have enrolled in the ‘Conversational German Course’. Fill in the form with complete sentences. Use 20-30 words. You have 7 minutes.
NEW STUDENT FORM Please tell us the days and times you can come, as well as topics you would like to discuss.
I can come in the mornings from ten to two. As far as I'm concerned, I could talk about sports and cities. |
PART 3 You are a new student in the ‘Conversational German Course’ and you are in the chat room. You are talking to Heather, an old student in this course. Talk to her using complete sentences. Use 30 to 40 words per answer. You have 10 minutes.
Heather: Hello! Are you a new student? I started three months ago because I want to go to work in Germany. Why are you studying German?
You:
Hi Heather! Yes, I am. I've been studying German for two years, so I need to speak with people to improve. Germany is a lovely country, so you will like it. I have some Friends who are working there now. |
Heather: What do you think about the course?
You:
I'm delighted to be a member of this course. I've been looking forward to a German course for a long time and I found this while surfing the web. The teachers are charming and so sympathetic. |
Heather: How do you feel about the fact that none of our teachers is native?
You:
It's true that the teachers are Spanish, but my German level is not very high. I just want to improve my German for when I go to the country on holiday. |
PART 4
You are studying German on the ‘Conversational German Course’. After your last lesson you saw the notice below:
Dear students,
We are sorry to inform you that from next week we need to change the time of the lessons: now they will be held every Thursday and Friday from 15.00 to 18.00.
If you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to email us at studentsupport@german.com
Write an email to a fellow student explaining what has happened. Write your feelings about the message you received and suggest possible alternatives. Write about 50 words. You have 10 minutes.
Hi John, How are things going?
Bad news. I've just received an email from the Conversational German Course saying they are changing the time of the lessons, it's going to be in the afternoons next week. I'm going to write to them about this issue.
I have to go now. See you soon! |
Now, write an email to the language school management, showing your disagreement with the situation and asking for solutions and compensations. Write about 120-150 words. You have 20 minutes.
Dear Language School Management, I am writing to reply to the email you sent yesterday. I would like to express my opinion about this issue. I do not know the reason why you are going to change the time of the lessons but this is a terrible situation. Moreover, I can't go to the lesson in the afternoons because I am working in a restaurant at night and I have to prepare the meals in the afternoons. I am disappointed with this and I need you to keep the original time of the lessons for me next week. If I did not work, I would not mind the change. Please, you should understand me and understand my situation. I look forward to hearing good news from you.
Thank you in advance. Kind regards, Tirso Llorens. |
